We have an exciting vacancy become available for a printing and production operative apprentice within our well-established family run business. The successful candidate will be focussing on printing and embroidery techniques to brand our products to a high standard for our clients.


The successful candidate will work in all areas of production to meet the needs of the clients. The job role will include:

  • – Your role will be to work on our printing and embroidery machines to complete customer jobs to a high quality and accurate standard. This will include using design software to create labels ready for branding.
  • – You will be required to run and maintain necessary machinery.
  • – You will be expected to work in all areas of the business to support overall operations.
  • – You will have good knowledge of Microsoft Office and preferably an awareness of programmes such as Sage, Wilcom, Coraldraw and Photoshop – Desirable but not essential.
  • – You will adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • – You will report to the Director of Operations.
  • – Collaborative working across the business. Experience is not essential and full training will be given.

Training to be Delivered

Mode of delivery:

Delivered in the workplace with 1 day a month attendance required in college. Programme to begin in September. We will support and coach the apprentice through the apprenticeship standard. We will carry out both curriculum and pastoral care. We will carry out the skills development workshop days off site – once a month in college. The assessors will oversee the teaching and learning around the knowledge, behaviours and skills elements of the standard that supports the job role.

We will manage the apprentice’s OneFile account ensuring targets, milestones and deadlines are achieved.

Functional Skills qualifications (If required):

Functional Skill in English Functional Skill in Maths + Employment Rights and Responsibilities + Personal Learning and Thinking Skills This standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.

Apprentices must demonstrate that they meet the following criteria:

Achieved a minimum Level 2 English and Maths. Satisfactory completion of the formal training plan agreed with the apprentice by the employer. Sufficient evidence in the form of a portfolio to allow the apprentice to consistently demonstrate knowledge, skills and behaviours as described in the standard. Complete a minimum of 20% of their contracted hours allocated to off the job training. The end-point assessment is synoptic and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development (final three months). It will consist of a performance assessment in the workplace – logbook / portfolio of evidence. Knowledge/practical assessments and assignments. These are carried out after the apprentice has met the required criteria to pass the Gateway process. The apprenticeship is graded a pass, distinction or fail based on performance in the end-point assessment.
