Apprentice Butcher – R H Binks & Sons Ltd (WF3 2EY)
This is an opportunity to work in a busy community shop where all the meat is straight from local Yorkshire farms, organically reared and of the highest quality. You will be part of a team of three or four butchers. The work includes all aspects of butchery from breaking down beef carcasses to making sausages and serving customers.
We create all our own homemade sausages in-house, from scratch, where meat is broken down from carcass’, minced, mixed, piped and linked by hand. All our new and interesting products are all made by hand including the numerous burgers we provide.
Uses all aspect of full carcass butchery and sources only quality Yorkshire meats & poultry. An ever growing and changing business open to all new ideas.
A traditional Butcher role with all aspects of carcass butchery, value added products and creative concepts.

A quality Wholesale & Retail Family Butchers who have been serving customers and making friends in Wakefield since 1920. Whilst we are a traditional style butcher founded on traditional service and a strong passion for high quality British produce, we are moving with the times to create hand-made products, and innovative ideas to the butchery trade.

Training to be Delivered
Level 2 Butchery
- Will attend training at Printworks Campus, Leeds City College one day per week.
Knowledge & Skills gained from this apprenticeship:

Qualification: Apprentices must achieve the following (prior to taking the end-point assessment):
- Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing (Meat and Poultry) Award in Proficiency in Meat and Poultry Industry Skills
- Award in Health and Safety in the Food Supply Chain Business
- Award in Knife Skills for Food Processing
Assessment: Apprentices must complete gateway requirements as a pre-requisite to end point assessment (EPA), including a log book, 3 short qualifications and English and maths.
EPA must be conducted by an independent assessor from an EPA organisation (EPAO) approved to offer services against this standard, as selected by the employer, from the Education & Skills Funding Agency’s Register of End Point Assessment Organisations.

What You Need
No previous qualifications required Level 1 functional skills in maths and English must be achieved prior to gateway and the learner must also attempt their level 2 maths and English exams. *functional skills does not apply if the apprentice already holds a GCSE (or equivalent) grade A*-C/9-4 in both English and maths.
