University Centre gets creative in the community

27th February 2019

The Creative Arts department at Leeds City College’s University Centre is benefitting from a partnership with Skippko to exhibit staff and student artwork, and run events in the centre of Leeds.

Arts organisation, Skippko, has provided the university with a space on Greek Street to exhibit work and showcase performances.

The team started using the space in January with mid-year show, Intermission, which displayed students’ work from the academic year so far.

Tom Poultney, Head of HE Creative Arts, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to show the public what can be achieved at the University Centre. Not only is student work displayed, but staff’s talents are highlighted too.

“So far, we have plans for curated projects, performances, film screenings, talks and a solo show by our artist-in-residence, Chloe Stead.

“Students are enjoying being active participants in the Leeds creative community, and sharing their work to inspire others.”

The University Centre will be using the space until the building is let.
